Last Thursday, 60 million cubic meters of waste water from a iron ore mine in southern Brazil inundated the village of Bento Rodrigues and several other towns downstream. The villagers had 25 minutes to evacuate before their homes were torn apart by an 8-foot-tall wave of mud.
